Ottawa Rotary Home, Ottawa, Ontario
Full of light, splashes of colour and thoughtful details for accessibility, a new 18,000 square foot respite care facility provides warm communal living space and comfortable accommodation for 21 children, young people and adults, all living with disabilities and complex medical needs.
Working in collaboration with Barry J. Hobin & Associates Architects from early planning through construction, Carlyle Design Associates provided design services for interior finishes, colours, millwork and custom casegoods, furniture, and window coverings. A varied collection of quilts made by the Rotary Cutters, a local quilting group, punctuates corridor walls and appeals to different ages. Room identification signs provide space for clients’ artwork and feature nature photographs by local photographer Louise Tanguay.
