Centretown Community Health Centre in downtown Ottawa has expanded to occupy additional space in an office building adjacent to their existing facilities. This new space houses the Diabetes Education Program and Administration offices, freeing up space in their existing ground floor location for other Client programs to meet growing demand for services.
Numerous plan options explored in consultation with staff resulted in efficient use of available space to accommodate counselling, meeting rooms and a mix of open and closed offices. Glazed partitions with translucent film balance daylight penetration with the need for visual privacy. Much of existing ceilings and light fixtures were re-used. Quality maple wood millwork provides warmth and detail while cheerful colour applied in thoughtful proportion animates the space. Maple panels on ceiling and wall carry digital prints of a manipulated satellite photo and artfully document the health centre’s catchment area.
